Education Innovation Programme

Education in UK prisons is a problem, one that leads to many unwanted consequences. Over 45% of the UK prison population did not complete and kind of formal education. Education in prison resembles the type of education that the prisoners disengaged with prior to their incarceration. Leaving prison without new skills or perspectives by which to view life, almost ensures that re-offending will perpetuate. Crossbar is an innovative approach to education in prison, especially for those prisoners who have disengaged with education completely. By making the classroom a football pitch we are able to capture the engagement and imagination of men.
