Steering wheel mounted remote control for the iPod

CruiseControl is a dedicated steering wheel mounted remote control for the iPod, Apple’s highly successful MP3 player. Using CruiseControl the driver can focus on the traffic and doesn’t get distracted as he does when reaching for the iPod, for example to skip for the next song, pause the playback or adjust the volume. Instead of IR light – which must be aligned for intervisibility with the receiver – CruiseControl uses RF (radio frequency) technology. CruiseControl adds comfort and – most important of all – safety to the mobile iPod experience. In order to set CruiseControl off against existing add-on steering wheel remotes (such as for car radios and car CD players) we focused on a clean design and realized the following design goals: • An elegant, simplistic shape, which perfectly blends into any steering wheel. • A clear and simple button layout, which allows blindfolded operation. • A single-pieced, screw-free mounting method.
