Danone Biomimicry EVO Bottle

Yogurt packaging

Despite plastic's huge success, it poses a challenge in terms of waste and requires better solutions. One is to reduce the amount of material needed for packaging. The new packaging design for Danone paved the way for a significant reduction in weight (23g to 14g) while enhancing performance. The new bottle is 23% lighter but with a 20% performance gain; that saves 493 tons of HDPE and reduces carbon emissions by 23% annually. Biomimicry, or nature-inspired design, was applied to the bottle. Elegant structural micro ribs are hidden under a full sleeve, inspired by the stems and branches of European Ivy (Hedera Helix L.).
