The German Association of Taxpayers is a group which fights against excessive tax politics and tax waste by public authorities. The key weapon in this fight is the "Schwarzbuch“, which is a collection of the most wasteful examples of tax spend, published yearly as a book. To increase focus on this issue giftGRÜN launched the Schwarzbuch online platform in 2016, incorporating additional features. Cases are presented in an easy to read format, with information sort able by federal state or specific categories. Users can also post and comment on cases of tax waste, which are then verified by the association. This feature creates more public awareness and focus on the authorities. giftGRÜN also refreshed the printed book in 2017 and more than 10,000 copies were ordered in one week.
