Der Neue Derzbachhof
Residential Building
Euroboden GmbHOriginally built in 1751, the Derzbachhof is Munich’s oldest farmhouse. After decades of decay, the derelict building was restored and transformed into a space for the community with part of the plot opened to the public as a village square. An adjoining new timber-hybrid offers contemporary apartments of various sizes to co-finance the elaborate refurbishment and revive the ensemble. The Derzbachhof demonstrates how built heritage can be revitalised both sustainably and economically. It preserves a listed structure, reactivates the neighbourhood and creates new forms of housing and venues for a diverse community of inhabitants.
iF Gold Statement
Derzbachhof is a residential/public hybrid of the highest quality. The centuries-old substance was retained and revitalized, and modern elements added. This is an outstanding model of sustainable architecture.
