Signage

Deutsches Schiffahrtsmuseum

As a part of the corporate design, the signage system strengthens the museum’s identity, carefully connecting two different architectural concepts. The whole exhibition consists of 26 equally important sections. German and English section titles are arranged in a vertical order consistent with the visitor’s path. The size communicates the distance to the destination: the nearer the visitor comes to a particular section, the larger it appears in the way finding cloud. Directional forms are created by horizontal shifts in the lines of text. Arrows could thus be dispensed with in favor of a visually associative language.
