Dirndl

Book

The Wiesbaden based design company Stijlroyal had been instructed with the design of the book Dirndl by “Edition Ebersbach”. The publication of the authors Heide and Kathrin Hollmer illustrates the cultural phenomenon of Dirndl dresses, from the traditional Oktoberfest to modern creations of famous contemporary fashion designers. The book design bases on traditional elements – such as the “Fette Fraktur” as headline font or traditional dirndl patterns as chapter dividers – and on a very reduced layout. This contrast emphasizes the substantive dialectic of tradition and modernity.

iF Gold Statement

The cultural phenomenon of the dirndl from A to Z: The dirndl book perfectly presents the conceptual and design dialectics of tradition and modernity. From Oktoberfest to modern design – always supported by design elements in the book – the reader has the opportunity to learn more about the dirndl in a very authentic and consistent manner. Perfectly implemented
