The packaging of the traditional Chinese rice pudding was inspired by the ancient tradition of the Dragon Boat Festival, a ritual for eliminating disease. This box opens up into a full-fledged paper cut-out of a dragon boat, which symbolizes breaking the wind and waves and played a key role in the festival. The box and imagery are replicas of the traditional sacrificial ceremony, meant to convey good wishes and health to the recipient, as well as symbolizing the elimination of diseases and disasters, now more important than ever as the world faces down the Covid-19 epidemic.
