DTS 01 | Drilling and Location Targeting Systems

Aerospace assembly device

DTS is a new innovation aimed at solving a specific problem in aerospace assembly related to connecting ribs and fuselage parts. The purpose of this device is to speed up the workflow and reduce the need for a highly-skilled operator by increasing the accuracy rate. The product consists of a detection unit and a drilling unit; the former unit uses ultrasound technology to detect the location of a hole on the outside of the fuselage, while the latter locks on to automatically drill a second corresponding hole from the inside.

The design of the DTS system differs from all other submitted works through well-thought-out details and an easily understandable presentation.

I am very honored to receive the iF DESIGN TALENT AWARD for my project. It means so much to have my work recognized on this level and this motivates me to continue coming up with new design ideas that help and inspire others.
