Automatic water tap

The emergency ward is a very stressful environment where time is invaluable. Nurses are required to wash their hands up to 40 times a day, yet the faucets often do not meet the nurses' needs. Main issues that I gathered from our field studies are: the water flow makes too much noise, motion sensors are badly positioned, complex shapes and many split-lines make cleaning a nightmare, switching between hot/cold is not possible (automatic water taps) and no way to flush the system with burning hot water. DuoFlow successfully tackles all these issues and becomes a water tap specifically tailored for healthcare settings.

JURY STATEMENT

Great idea, very helpful, high level of elaboration, solid, clinic and aesthetic design

WINNER STATEMENT

I am so happy and hope that this will bring more attention to issues with working environments in hospitals, as there is great potential for improvement. Getting this award shows that functional healthcare centric design does not need to be boring or uninspiring. Thank you!
