According to the World Health Organization, generalized anxiety disorder affects 20–25% of the world’s population. Since it is not a clinical condition, there is no drug treatment. Hold is designed to reduce anxiety by using light signals, a soft silicone fob, and an app to guide the user through breathing exercises before stress triggers anxiety. The device is designed to be carried like a key ring so that it’s always to hand when needed.

JURY STATEMENT

This design cleverly combines three elements that are proven to reduce anxiety: light therapy, reassuring haptics, and guided breathing exercises. This is like a smart stress ball.
