Environmental protection

Environmental problems often seem so overwhelmingly large. It's important to remember, therefore, that the achievement of major goals begins with the achievement of minor goals in a series of small steps. This concept motivates people to take small steps towards protecting the marine environment. Activity plans guide groups of adults and children to clean trash and debris from beaches. As participants achieve collection targets, they are rewarded with badges (made from recycled materials), and when they have collected enough of these they enter a draw to win prizes. The idea is to turn environmental protection into a fun communal activity, where the achievement of short-term individual goals (collecting badges and winning prizes) leads to the achievement of a much larger collective goal (a clean beach and marine protection).
