eQu
therapeutic riding saddle
THE RIDER eQu provides disabled children with a safer and more secure seat on horseback and brings their legs as close as possible to the horse; the warmth of the horse will relax the spastic muscles in the child’s legs. THE THERAPISTeQu is a modular system and the therapist can adjust eQu to accommodate different types of disabilities. In the end, the exercises are much more stress-free for the therapist. THE HORSE eQu can be adjusted perfectly to the shape of the horse’s back and it gives more shoulder room for the horse. The anti-shock pads can be adjusted to the rider#S weight and makes the therapy session more comfortable for the horse.
"A piece of equipment that does what design is meant to do. It does not only look good. With intelligent ergonomic considerations, the modular design benefits both the rider and the horse. To top it all, it is easy to use, and appealing to the eye."
WINNER STATEMENTI was overwhelmed by the news of winning an iF concept design award. Especially because so many good young designers were taking part. This is a sign from the jury that I was on the right track with my design process and the final result. Thanks to the Umeå Institute of Design.
