Catalogue

Landscapes and people are at the centre of Johann Hendrix’ work. Characteristically, his paintings are composed of contrasting picture and colour charts, which complement each other in different, well-balanced proportions. As a characteristic of the catalogue, coloured intermediate pages indicate a new section. These pages, which can be considered as an adaption of the colour charts, prepare the viewer for the special colour climate found in the large colour surfaces and small details of the pictures on the subsequent pages. With a few exceptions, the dimensions of the pictures in the catalogue are related to each other true to scale, thereby providing the viewer with an impression of the dimensions and proportions of the real paintings. This catalogue appeared on occasion of the exhibition “Colour Areas” in the Kunst-Museum Ahlen.
