Fenghua Cultural Square

Public space

For the visual identity of this public space, the designers used the features of the now-abandoned factory buildings of the original Fenghua Thermal Power Plant in Shengyang, the largest city in Northeast China. They amplified the atmosphere and architectural temperament of the industrial relics and made use of the (Fenghua) geographical landscape pattern. The design also uses the wind and rain corridor to connect the pavilions in the layout. The building's main material of brick invokes simplicity and the power of industrial heritage, also acting as a continuation of Fenghua's historical context.
