Eyewear

FLEYE

Hand-crafted, natural eyewear that combines ebony wood, buffalo horn and beta-titanium. Silky soft, light buffalo horn exquisitely sets off the fine structure of the encapsulated ebony wood. A horn-wood-horn layer ensures the perfect preservation of the wood and it lends the structure of the wood a very special effect. Usually horn eyeglasses cannot be adjusted at the nose bridge. FLEYE’s design solution fixes this problem by having adjustable nose pads on a single piece of flexible Japanese beta-titanium thread that gracefully loops through the nose bridge. The thread can be adjusted individually to ensure a perfect fit for any.

JURY STATEMENT

Touched by Nordic Design - selected by Dorrit Bøilerehauge The glasses from Fleye, made of ebony wood, mark a natural trend that is also prevalent in eyewear. Balance seems to be central for the glasses whose dark color is still light enough for fairer types; size and shape are distinct, but still discreet enough for the classic types; and the natural material is still urban enough for city types. The matte wood surface is inviting, and it is in harmony with skin and hair so that the design has the potential to match and enhance its user while not attracting attention at the expense of the facial context.
