FLOW, Thereafter: A Misinterpretation Performance
Public Media Art
D'STRICT KOREA, INC.FLOW, Thereafter: A Misinterpretation Performance visualizes the process through which a single artwork expands into layered interpretations. Reframing contemporary art beyond fixed, artist-centered meaning, it embraces an open structure completed by the viewer’s imagination, as evident in its subtitle A Misinterpretation Performance. Based on Jinu Nam’s Star Cliff (2023), two contrasting interpretations unfold as performance. Characters embody these readings through gesture and movement, transforming the media space into a stage that invites viewers to interpret actively, revealing a new participatory model of art appreciation.
iF Gold Statement
This media art project dissolves the boundary between audience and narrative, transforming spectators into participants within a living story. Media architecture becomes experiential theater when the audience is invited to construct meaning as participants rather than spectators. This work successfully demolishes the boundaries of performance art, creating something entirely novel.
