In medicine, most laboratory tests do not check all the blood, but only the plasma or the serum. However, these two components cannot be separated until the blood has been centrifuged. A pusher-type flywheel centrifuge is able to isolate blood plasma in one and half minutes, which is 25% faster than conventional centrifuges. It is a power-free device, and the entire procedure costs only 5 RMB. This is very important for economically disadvantaged developing countries who need to reduce their medical costs.
