Table, Partition, and Door Incorporating Japanese

Abe Kogyo Co., Ltd

This project was created to mark our company's 80th anniversary. As a firm that designs and constructs numerous wooden doors, fittings, and furniture throughout Japan, we sought to create and share a new product symbolizing Japanese joinery techniques with the world. Kumiko, intricate latticework made by combining small pieces, has been widely used in Japanese architecture since ancient times. Taking this kumiko as our motif, we expressed a structure that combines a sense of depth with both flexibility and strength. The delicacy of its overlapping layers evokes the image of a forest.
