The Frigate chair represents a novel application of the Danzer company's 3D-veneer. The chair makes the high level of comfort associated with this technology accessible to a wider audience at an affordable price. The two-piece construction of the shell facilitates economical production methods because only the backrest is treated with 3D-veneer whereas the seat is made with conventional methods. The three-dimensional backrest provides appropriate lumbar support. The front and top edges of the chair are bent away from the occupant’s body so as not to cut into it. This way the chair offers the same ergonomic quality as other 3D plywood shells but at a more accessible price point that reaches more users.
