FUJIMI Sumo Wrestling Hall

Stadium

As part of the redevelopment project for FUJIMI Park in Kawasaki City, Japan, FUJIMI Sumo Wrestling Hall has been planned to serve as an open square-like space that is accessible to everyone. At its center is the Sumo ring, covered by a roof inspired by traditional Japanese construction methods. Surrounding it are tiered spectator seats and a wisteria trellis supported by a wooden frame. Over the years, the wisteria will grow, spreading its vines to create a comfortable, green-shaded space. The scene of the curved roof floating above a sea of wisteria blooms will become a landmark, bringing the city’s Sumo culture closer to the community.
