Artist’s biography (catalogue)

Asier Pérez’s body of work is an endeavour to stake out a domain that encompasses artistic practice, the radius of its action and the sphere of “life” understood through the economy, that is to say, trade. In a loose and broad sense, the economy could be viewed as a practice that seeks to define the tradable value of things and even of human actions. In contrast, art has historically sought to remain outside the orbit of the sphere of utility, thereby championing the superior sphere of the symbolic. “Volatile Environments” is structured by projects but also by blocks definition of the type of agents taking part in each one of the projects (Clients, Legal & Financial Advisors, Media, Partners, Providers, Staff and Users). The main idea was not to present the projects in a chronological narrative way, but to create a logic that fits to the type of projects presented.
