This is a packaging design for a capillary column, a consumable in gas chromatography (GC), used to analyze and measure various components in a sample. The box is composed of a recyclable cardboard case and an inner “turntable,” which can be locked or unlocked to access the column. The design protects the fragile product against impact and contamination during international transit and storage. A simple rotation of the turntable releases the column. The column can also be secured in the box by rotating the turntable in the opposite direction.Most competitors use one-off packaging for similar products whereas Shimadzu’s solution is reusable, recyclable, and user-friendly.
