Gotanda Alley
office building
NIHON KENSETSU
In order to reduce CO2 emissions, the building was renovated rather than reconstructed. Instead of forcing the entire new facade, a polygonal solid cedar gate was placed at the entrance as a symbol of CO2 emission reduction. Scrap wood from the construction of the gate material was used for the interior counter and signage. By passing lighting through a hole in an existing beam found during the demolition of the ceiling, we created light that invites people from the entrance door to the elevator.
