Grand Ring
The symbol architecture of Expo 2025 Osaka
Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition
The Grand Ring is the symbol of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan and expresses the concept of 'Unity in Diversity.' It is built using a fusion of modern construction techniques and traditional Nuki joints, like those found in Japanese shrines and temples. Serving as the main route for visitors, it ensures smooth movement and provides a sheltered, comfortable space from wind, rain, and sunlight.
iF Gold Statement
The Grand Ring was designed for the 2025 Expo in Osaka to celebrate unity and diversity by framing the various pavilions. Its elevated circulation relieves ground congestion and opens up breathtaking vistas. The CLT construction and demountable detailing demonstrate true circular thinking. This is temporary in lifespan, but lasting in impact. One ring to unite them all – and bring home Gold!
