Mobility concept

The background: in my bachelor thesis I have been developing a mobility concept for young children with disabilities for a company in Denmark. I believe a wheelchair for kids must be much more fun! The idea: due to its low height and compact size the Grasshopper is fast and agile. The natural sitting position enables the toddler to stand up easily and to free itself when it gets stuck. The height adjusting mechanism forms the basis for social interaction with peers in kindergarten. The tail of the product invites other children to interact and ride together. Therefore, the Grasshopper is much more sporty, social and playful.

JURY STATEMENT

This is a wheelchair that works very well in terms of design. It shows a lot of insight, too: of course, young children would much rather be using a nice-looking, practical, fun means of locomotion than a wheelchair that looks like it has come straight out of the hospital.

WINNER STATEMENT

I'm so grateful! I was just working on my master's thesis when I received the winner email – that is such a big motivation!
