Residential public space

DAGA Architects

This project aims to transform a historic traditional courtyard into an attractive co-living apartment in Beijing that can attract young residents and also bring new life to the historic area. The architects created public areas for various activities, giving people more opportunities to socialize and learn about the hutong culture. The element of glass is used to solve the problem of how to combine the new and old buildings. The transparency of the glass always lets in sunlight and does not detract from the historical look of the building, thereby creating a visual and spatial balance.
