Intercultural maker space
Habibi.Works is an intercultural maker space in the region of Ioannina in Northern Greece. It offers space for open workshops in which refugees, locals and international experts come together to create products and perspectives. The eleven different workshops (wood workshop, metal workshop, MediaLab with 3D printers, laser cutter and virtual reality equipment, community kitchen, barber shop, sewing studio, creative studio, bicycle station, library, gym and community garden) function as educational platforms, empowerment and social meeting places. People meet here to create, learn and teach.
Habibi.Works impresses with its approach to bring together refugees and natives in Northern Greece to create products and perspectives for employment. The offer is very diverse and offers numerous points of contact for the exchange of experiences for people with very different qualifications and new employment models. Integration is the key to success - both for refugees and for locals.
WINNER STATEMENTThank you very much for this generous support, especially at this time when Habibi.Works had difficulties finding the funds to continue our important work with the refugees. Now we are prepared if the pandemic continues. In the last months we have been working hard to produce face shields with our equipment. In the meantime we have produced many successfully. Thanks again, that will make many people happy.
