Hidden time

This clock comes in the form of a flashlight, to be placed in an inverted position on the desktop. Once picked up, it illuminates the desktop with digits showing the current time. When returned to its original position, the time is no longer visible. This back-and-forth shift between revealing and concealing the time is a philosophical reminder that time only exists when we pay attention to it.

This flashlight-like clock provokes us to think more deeply about the concept of time. In the moment of lifting the lamp to reveal the current time the user enters into an intriguing interaction with the concept and reality of time. Because the time is only visible when the device is lifted, it also helps to break the habit of 'watching the clock'.
