Public art

This project forms part of the ‘Seoul is Museum’, the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s public art project. Yujin Sangga built upon the artificial land that covered part of the Hongjecheon stream in the 1970s for the purpose of military defense at a time when the tension between North and South Korea was most intense. In 2019, the underground area of the building was opened, which disclosed a unique underground space made of concrete structures supporting the building and artificial land above along with a flowing stream. In this place, a new type of public art was created using immaterial properties such as light, sound and technology.
