IBM TotalStorage DS4800 Midrange Disk System

Data storage server

IBM Corporation IBM Industrial Design

The IBM TotalStorage DS4800 storage server delivers scalable, high-performance storage for midrange computing environments requiring business resilience and continuity of operations. Also designed to accommodate the changing value of data over time, the DS4800 can play a leading role in a hierarchical storage life-cycle management strategy. The DS4800 offers up to 3x performance improvement over previous models and can support up to 224 disk drives, providing over 67 TB of disk storage capacity. Innovative design aspects include customer-replaceable components that can be repaired or upgraded without the need for tools and without the need to power down the server. Repairs are further simplified by light-path diagnostics, which provide an easy method of fault diagnosis: a built-in indicator illuminates any failed components.
