The z14 is the newest line of IBM Mainframes. The letter "z" in the name stands for "zero downtime", a guarantee of absolute reliability that has become the trademark of this unique IBM offering for the IT market. Key visual elements in the design translate the robustness, impenetrability and scalability that this latest evolution of the iconic z-branded hardware brings to the table. In order to balance the contrasting requirements of cooling and sound attenuation, an innovative design of floating and pivoting panels was added to hide massive layers of sound-absorbing material while allowing for maximum airflow.
