Interior design

Research indicates that homelessness is a revolving-door crisis in the US, which in turn suggests that innovative design methods can help alleviate this national crisis. In the past three years, New York City alone has seen a 64% increase in homelessness. This country has an obvious need for emergency housing, and homeless shelters are only a temporary solution. The Capstone project synthesizes the need for supportive housing solutions in New York City and other urban areas as a modular prototype that may be retro-fitted to existing structures.

JURY STATEMENT

A multi-story garage has been converted into a building to accommodate homeless people in underserved communities of New York City. This is a great concept with huge potential. It gives formerly homeless people the chance to build a foundation for success in their lives.
