Jakob- Kemenate

Exhibition and event

In order to redevelop the urban space consisting of the Kemenate (with its annex, the Vorderhaus) and the Jakob chapel, a modern building facing Jakobstraße, has been constructed. It mirrors the volume of the Vorderhaus so that a situation has been created which is evocative of the old churchyard. The provisional roof has been replaced with the original volume of the roof. Both structural measures should remain visible and were therefore designed distinctly different from the existing building. The glass foyer between the historic bower and the new building exemplifies the conjunction and dialectics of “old and new”.
