JIGENJI TEMPLE - Opening the Heart of the Temple -

Renovation of temple with seismic strengthening

Now, we are opening the temple buildings to the community. Relocating the karahahu (Chinese cusped gable) to the entrance of the main hall enhanced its prestige. In contrast, the exterior wall of the kuri was partially set back to install eaves around it, giving it a welcoming appearance, which invites all to stop by. Under the landscape of ancient mountain worship, everyone in the community can use this place to mourn the deceased and reflect on themselves and, at other times, hold tea ceremonies, concerts, and terakoya school. Simple as it may sound, our sincere hope is to entrust architecture to the eternal and open it up to the future.
