Renovate homes to end housing poverty
Just a Change is a portuguese non-profit dedicated to rehabilitating homes for individuals in substandard housing. Since 2010, we’ve renovated over 400 houses and 150 institutions, positively impacting more than 17,000 lives. Our work addresses the devastating effects of poor housing on health, education, and social inclusion, breaking the cycle of poverty and fostering stronger, resilient communities. With over 23,000 volunteers and strong public-private partnerships, our scalable model also improves energy efficiency, ensuring sustainable, impactful change. Supporting us means investing in dignity, empowerment, and lasting transformation.
Shelter is one of the most basic needs of people and this project makes people feel that improving their living conditions and making them and their families feel safe will lead to increased motivation.
WINNER STATEMENTWe are deeply honored to receive the iF SOCIAL IMPACT PRIZE, a recognition that inspires us to continue fighting housing poverty in Portugal. Since 2014, we have renovated over 500 houses, transforming the lives of more than 1,000 beneficiaries. Together, we work to ensure everyone has a safe, dignified home—a place where they truly feel they belong.
