Information and communication are to be the focus of attention in the new foyer of Darmstadt University of Technology. For this purpose we designed in co-operation with the architect Martin Schmitt multifunctional objects of space and light, which combine architectural requirements and communication goals with research and education. An LED display with its own pixel font extends across the lobby as an interactive information platform and technical experimental field for individual faculties. Three colossal lampshades float in the gallery, providing lighting and media support functions their design is a slightly tongue-in-cheek reminder of the belief in tradition and progress.
