Passenger car

Kia Deutschland GmbH

The D-segment model of Kia Motors, Kia Optima, combines outstanding design with excellent handling characteristics and modern accents. The tall, strong shoulder line, the structured edges and the powerful wheel arches give the Kia Optima an elegant and athletic appearance. Its driver-oriented interior and the high-tech attributes in the interior emphasize the comfort and elegance. The small but highly efficient engines with six-in automatic and manual transmissions underline the pleasure for driving.

JURY STATEMENT

Good design moves - selected by Ronald Ihrig With the new generation of the KIA Optima, Peter Schreyer’s South Korean design has reached the mid-size segment of production vehicles. The designs for this car, with a strong focus on the European and American markets, were implemented by designers in the KIA design studios in Frankfurt (Germany) and Irvine (USA). KIA has defined design as one of its core strength and, with the appointment of Peter Schreyer as one of the three presidents of the KIA Motor Corporation, has welcomed the first Non-Korean into its top executive ranks. With clearly defined surfaces and style elements such as the KIA grille, the new design language has become distinctive and unique. A remarkable development within just a few years’ time.
