Community-based cultural tourism hub museum

The KOCHIKAMEl Museum reimagines how the manga IP Tokyo Beat Cop can serve as a catalyst for community revitalization. Owned and operated by the Katsushika City Office, the project was created to reinvigorate Kameari—an aging downtown district. Based on the playful concept that the manga’s protagonist, Ryō-san, built the museum himself and escaped into the streets, it transforms fiction into civic design. Blending architecture, storytelling, and local collaboration, it sustains the warmth and vitality of Tokyo’s old-town spirit through creativity and human connection.
