Koninklijke Bibliotheek
Website
The Royal Library in The Hague is the national library of the Netherlands. Electronic media are playing an increasingly important role in making available the huge wealth of sources from the national memory. At the end of 2003, Fabrique won the pitch for the new website of the KB. On the new home page, the navigation is grouped into three clear main areas. The library area is primarily functional and service-oriented. The area on exhibitions and collections actively brings the KB's collection to the attention of a wider audience: from making a medieval manuscript available for viewing, to themed exhibitions on cookery books or contemporary authors. In order to give this digital shop window an attractive design, Fabrique developed a set of building blocks to allow the editors a great deal of freedom to build attractive and characteristic pages.
