Kumenan Town
The Kumenan Town Hall integrates government and community functions into a single complex for a small municipality of 4,000 residents in Okayama Prefecture. Designed as a new civic hub where people can casually gather, the building revitalizes the town’s role as a historical crossroads. The design is structured around three core concepts: the town plaza, the transparent assembly hall, and the roofscape in harmony with the town. Surrounding a central green courtyard, the facility blurs the boundary between inside and outside, creating an approachable and open public space for daily interaction.
