Little Signals
Interaction Experiments
Google LLCLittle Signals, a series of interaction experiments, explores new behaviors for technology in our daily lives. Just as everyday items find simple ways to inform us - the moving hands of a clock or whistle of a kettle - this series shows how to stay up-to-date while maintaining calm. Rhythm’s ambient sounds match the meaning behind information. Tap knocks on nearby surfaces to notify. Shadow’s shadow reacts to activity and presence. Air moves nearby items, like the leaves of a plant, with a gentle waft. Button grows as it fills with info, playing a tone when full. Movement’s pegs graphically represent info, like a timer.
iF Gold Statement
Little Signals offers a workable model for how technology can successfully interact with us in the future. The design is elegant and aesthetically pleasing, offering new ways to keep us informed.
