Loyalty Street 1645
Poster series
Jiangyin Urban Construction Industrial Development Co., Ltd.
In 1645, the Manchu people from northeast China invaded Jiangyin in the province of Jiangsu, marking the end of the Ming Dynasty and the beginning of the Qing Dynasty. Upon entering Jiangyin, the conquerors required the Han people to cut their hair. Every inhabitant of Jiangyin refused. People stood back to back, protecting each other's hair for 81 days to resist. Ever since, the street where this occurred has been called Zhongyi or Loyalty Street. Now Jiangyin is planning to renew this area as a lively neighborhood for small shops and restaurants. The three posters document the cross-media branding for the revitalized district.
