Lucusta
Gardening Tool
Secateurs and lobster claws have a lot in common: both are used to cut and break solid objects. Secateurs are one of the most common gardening tools. They are a type of scissors for use on plants and trees. They come in a variety of sizes, from small and fine-cutting secateurs to big electric ones. Lucusta is the result of an investigation into form, where the anatomy of a lobster’s claw was studied. The claw was then translated into the different parts of the secateurs. With this design, I wanted to create a biomimic solution.
Lucusta orients its sensual product language towards nature – and harnesses it again at the same time. Quite different to most conventional tools currently available on the market. The quality of the workmanship has reached a very high level.
WINNER STATEMENTIt is truly an honor for me to have my work both acknowledged and appreciated by such a well established institution as the iF World Design Guide. This is an incredible opportunity for me to exchange experiences, views and ideas with others who share a great interest in shaping the future.
