The graphic project for "Mateus, Marcos, Lucas e João" presents a contemporary take on illuminated medieval bibles, which brings them into the 21st century. Revealed by a presentation box, its metal sheet cover is adorned by fake jewels and its pages show contemporary versions of historical initials, which as its medieval predecessors present a visual narrative as important as the text, but, instead of biblical scenes, depict pictures of traffic jams, fast food, weapons and cell phones – an ironic, but incisive portrait of our era.
