MATRIX
Drainage system
National University of Singapore Architecture
Conventional drainage designs are focused on their specific function but ignore aesthetics. In architecture drainage has the importance of drawing a border to the building line. MATRIX is a drainage system concept, where the functional drainage holes are arranged to form characters or any other symbols. Arranging the modules can form messages. The drain cover can come in alphabets and numbers. By using the characters or numbers building names can be created or a short phrase, address, tag line, etc. This adds function, meaning and humour to a conventional dead drainage cover. The jury: nice way of bringing characters into the city.
