Matsubara House

Residential studio apartment complex

Shimada Asset Partners

This apartment building containing very small studios (from 15㎡), located in a densely populated area of Tokyo, was built with enhanced designs, materials, colors, and scales based on a variety of “House” prototypes. Most apartments in Japan have a uniform facade, which does not reference the surrounding environment and landscape, making residents feel detached from the community. This unique three-dimensional architecture provides a convenient and enjoyable living space, where tenants can feel comfortable calling their studio room “My House”.
