Good design moves - selected by Ronald Ihrig The full-size Mercedes Benz Coupé, built from 1999 to 2006 and going by the internal development code of C215, would formerly have been called an S-class coupé. With its C140 predecessor, in 1996, Mercedes-Benz had already established an independent CL-class as part of their model update strategy. While the C140 was rather heavy, the designers proved that Mercedes was also able to build large coupés with a transparent and lightweight look. Roof pillars that could almost be described as ’delicate’ provide optimal all-round visibility and underline the elegant line management. A great and lightweight silhouette for the full-size coupé.
