Metro Oostlijn Amsterdam
Metro stations
Municipality Amsterdam
“I feel at home and I know where I am going”: words not often associated with a city’s metro system. Yet these words perfectly represent the goals set for the renovation of the Oostlijn, Amsterdam's first metro line, built in the 1970s. Creating high quality public spaces in metro stations contributes to mobility in the city, alleviating ever-increasing urban pressure. Prolific use of the Oostlijn’s original DNA combined with strategic spatial interventions and clever clustering of facilities delivers comfortable and future-proof metro stations. New art stimulates appropriation of metro spaces strengthening the role a characterful metro plays in the city.
