Metal convex tape measures provide an easy way to measure long straight or curved lines and marking dimensions, but they need to be handled with care because the edges are sharp and the tape retracts rapidly. No matter how carefully they are used, a small mistake can cause the tape to shoot back in, posing safety concerns in homes with children. We noticed that parents cannot leave these tape measures within reach of children, let alone allow children to measure things themselves, so we decided to create a tape measure that is safe for all ages.
